Cub Scout Day at Great Falls Park VA

8:30am – Arrive to the park
9:00am – Flag Ceremony
Cub scouts will raise the flag and learn/practice how to fold the American flag.
9:30am – Be Prepared
Our region park ranger will play games with cub scouts about what equipment they should bring on a walk or backpack trip. Prizes will be given.
10:00am – Bird walk
Cub scouts will be able to hike with our bird person with binoculars to see birds throughout the park, one mile hike. Binoculars are provided by the park to each cub scout to BORROW.
11:00am – Canal Hike
Come learn the history of the park with the rangers and how the falls and canal was formed that makes Great Falls Park a national park.
12:00pm – Lunch
Lunch is NOT provided by the park, we have a concession stand.
1:00pm – Raptor show
Cub scouts will be able to see different types of raptors. Learn about the habitat, wings, food, ect. Cub scouts will NOT be able to pet the raptors, but can get really close to them.
2:00pm – Snake Alive
Cub scouts will be able to see a ranger feed a snake and touch it. Cub scouts will be able to be up-close and personal with the snake.
3:00pm – Award scout ranger/ junior ranger/ scout ranger
Cub scouts who have participated throughout the day will earn the Scout/Ranger certificate and junior ranger badge.
The entrance fee for Great Falls Park is $10 per car. You can also use a National Parks Pass or if you have a child in Fourth Grade take advantage of the Every Kid in a Park program
